Olivia Rodrigo's "Expectations" video draws AI accusations over one animated shot

Olivia Rodrigo’s music video for “Expectations”, featuring Chappell Roan, has been hit with accusations of AI use over a brief animated scene, Creative Bloq reports.

The video is a retro game-show production that drew wide praise. The trouble is one cartoon shot of the pair flying past on a spaceship styled like a prize wheel, where Roan appears to lose a hand and Rodrigo appears to gain one. Some fans took that as a tell-tale AI error, which stung because Rodrigo recently told The Hollywood Reporter she would never use AI in her music.

Others pushed back, saying this kind of mistake happens in hand-drawn 2D animation all the time, and that one coloring slip proves nothing. No AI use has been confirmed.
