Powtoon vs Vyond
Two AI video tools side by side: pricing, free plans, features and who each one suits.
#19 in Video editors

A long-running browser studio for animated explainers, whiteboard videos and presentations, now with an Imagine AI layer for doc to video, Veo clips, ElevenLabs voices and HeyGen avatars
Best for: Trainers, marketers and small businesses who want animated explainers and branded presentations without learning motion graphics.
#43 in Text to video

A business video platform that turns prompts, documents and URLs into animated, avatar and mixed-media videos for training, HR and sales teams
Best for: L&D, HR, internal comms and sales enablement teams that need on-brand animated and avatar explainers, training modules and SCORM exports at scale.
Powtoon or Vyond?
Powtoon and Vyond both make animated business videos, and both now draft them from documents. Vyond is the heavier tool. It costs more per seat but adds SCORM export, longer videos and a deeper mix of avatars, screen recordings and stock. Most small teams and solo trainers should start with Powtoon. L&D teams that publish into a learning system should look hard at Vyond.
What each one is built for
Powtoon is a scene editor for explainers, whiteboard videos and presentations you can export as PPT or PDF. Its AI features sit on top and run on credits that are thin on yearly plans. Vyond is built for corporate training. Vyond Go turns a prompt, PDF or URL into a draft, Studio polishes it, and the result can leave as a SCORM package for an LMS. Video length shows the gap too: Powtoon caps out at 30 minutes on Advanced, while Vyond allows 25 minutes on its entry plan and 90 on Enterprise.
What it costs at typical use
Picture one instructional designer turning 6 slide decks a month into narrated animated modules.
- Vyond Starter is $699 a year per user. Six Vyond Go drafts cost 4,800 of the 10,000 monthly credits. The other 5,200 buy about 26,000 characters of standard text-to-speech, roughly half an hour of narration by our rough math. Avatar narration would cost twenty times more per character, so keep it to short lines.
- Powtoon Professional is $480 a year at its current sale price, with unlimited exports. It grants 500 AI credits for the whole year, and Powtoon does not publish what a doc-to-video draft costs. You may end up building more by hand.
So Powtoon saves about $219 a year per seat. Vyond gives you predictable credit math and an LMS-ready file.
Powtoon also has a free plan for learning the editor. Vyond only offers a watermarked trial.
Which to pick
- Pick Powtoon if you are a solo creator or small team, want a free plan, or present your videos live. See the Powtoon review.
- Pick Vyond if you need SCORM, long modules, or one tool for animation, avatars and screen recordings. See the Vyond review.
