Runway Creative product page headline: A new frontier for video generation

The AI video lab behind Gen-4.5 and Aleph, with a full creative suite for generating, editing and extending footage, plus Kling, Seedance and other models

Best for: Filmmakers, editors, agencies and brand teams who want frontier video models plus serious editing tools, and are willing to pay per second of footage.

Higgsfield or Runway?

Both sell a menu of models under one credit balance, but they solve different problems. Runway is for people who generate and then repair footage, often inside Premiere Pro or After Effects. Higgsfield is for people who want a wide model list and presets that do the prompting for them. Editors should lean Runway. Social and ad makers should lean Higgsfield.

What each one is built for

Runway trains Gen-4.5 itself and sells Kling 3.0 and Seedance next to it. Its real value comes after generation. Aleph 2.0 carries a one-frame edit across a whole clip, and the Apps relight scenes, remove objects or swap backdrops. Team plans add pooled credits and frame-accurate comments.

Higgsfield trains no video model. It gathers Seedance, Kling, Veo, Wan and Hailuo, then wraps them in Cinema Studio, Ads Studio, Lipsync Studio and an AI Influencer builder. Our review describes no repair tools like Aleph. The nearest thing is Genjutsu, which recasts uploaded footage, and you should only use it on footage and people you have rights to.

What it costs at typical use

Assume one minute of finished footage a month, with three takes per shot, so 180 seconds generated.

  • Runway on Gen-4.5: 12 credits a second makes 2,160 credits. Standard’s 625 falls far short, so you need Pro at $28 a month yearly or $35 monthly. Its 2,250 credits leave almost nothing spare.
  • Higgsfield on Kling 3.0: at about 14 credits per 8-second 720p clip, 23 clips use around 320 credits. Plus at $39 yearly or $49 monthly covers that with about 680 left over.

That is not a like-for-like test. Our Runway review does not confirm Gen-4.5’s native resolution, and Higgsfield’s rate is for 720p on a partner model. Runway can also cut rerolls by fixing a near miss with Aleph. The other gap is predictability. Runway publishes a credit table per model, while Higgsfield’s prices move with promotions. Credits reset monthly on the lower plans of both.

Which to pick

  • Pick Runway if you edit inside Premiere Pro, After Effects or Resolve, want to fix shots rather than regenerate them, or need team review tools. See the Runway review.
  • Pick Higgsfield if you want one bill for many models, plus ad and cinema presets for fast social or brand work. See the Higgsfield review.

Strengths and weaknesses

Higgsfield

  • Nearly every leading video model in one account
  • Studios and presets give non-prompters a fast path to polished shots
  • Plus and above unlock all models, not just a subset
  • Unlimited windows on selected models stretch heavy plans further
  • Commercial use of outputs is not restricted, per the help center
  • Large community gallery shows the prompts and assets behind each project
  • Starter only gets selected models; most of the catalog starts at Plus
  • Credit math shifts with promotions, unlimited windows and per-model prices
  • Unlimited models and free generations do not work in MCP, CLI, Canvas or Supercomputer
  • Footer lists an AI Face Swap tool, and Genjutsu recasts real footage, both easy to misuse without consent
  • No trial of paid plans; refunds only within 7 days with no credits used, minus a fee up to 6%
  • The interface is crowded, and the vendor's own reviews call it overwhelming

Runway

  • Runs its own frontier models, not only resold ones
  • Video editing tools go well beyond generation, from object removal to relighting
  • Premiere Pro, After Effects and Resolve plugins fit real post-production
  • Public per-model credit costs make budgeting predictable
  • Every paid plan gets all video and image models and no watermark
  • Team plan with pooled credits and frame-accurate comments
  • Standard's 625 credits buy only about 52 seconds of Gen-4.5 a month
  • Free credits are one-time, roughly 10 seconds of Gen-4.5
  • Credits do not roll over on Standard or Pro
  • Pricing page labels yearly billing both "2 months free" and "20% off"; the actual saving is 20%
  • Studio-grade output such as HDR and ProRes is Max-only
  • The breadth of tools and models has a learning curve for casual creators
