Google Veo vs Kling AI
Two text to video tools side by side: pricing, free plans, features and who each one suits.
Unranked in Text to video

Google DeepMind's video model with native audio, now used mainly through Google Flow on a Google AI plan, with Gemini Omni taking over in the Gemini app
Best for: Creators who already pay for Google AI, or want to, and need short cinematic clips with sound, plus developers and businesses building on Google Cloud.
Unranked in Text to video

Kuaishou's AI video studio, home of Kling 4.0 with native 30-second clips, stereo audio and up to 15 reference assets, plus 4K output, Motion Control and an API
Best for: Filmmakers, ad makers and social creators who want one of the leading video models direct from its maker, with long native clips, sound and fine control over references and keyframes.
Google Veo or Kling AI?
For short clips on a small budget, Google Veo wins: 50 free Flow credits a day and a $4.99 plan get you started. For longer takes and tighter control over each shot, Kling is the better tool. Veo also comes with a roadmap question Kling does not have.
What each one is built for
Veo is a model, not an app. Most people now reach Veo 3.1 in Google Flow, paid for by a Google AI plan. The Gemini app has switched to Gemini Omni Flash for video instead, and the Gemini API’s Veo preview has shut down, so Flow and Google Cloud are the routes left. Each clip is 4, 6 or 8 seconds, and longer scenes are built from extensions.
Kling is a full studio from the company that trains the models. Kling 4.0 makes clips of up to 30 seconds in one go, takes up to 15 reference assets, and adds keyframes, Motion Control and native 4K on paid plans. It has its own desktop and phone apps.
What it costs at typical use
Say you need 10 short clips with sound at 1080p.
- Veo on Google AI Plus: $4.99 a month for 200 Flow credits. Veo 3.1 Fast costs 20 credits per clip whatever the length, so take the full 8 seconds. Ten clips use all 200 credits, and the 50 free daily credits give you room for retakes. Paid plans include 1080p upscaling; the review does not say what that costs in credits. Ten Quality clips at 100 credits each would need Pro at $19.99.
- Kling Standard: $6.99 the first month, then $8.80, for 660 credits. A third-party figure from Kling’s guide puts a 5-second 1080p Kling 3.0 clip with audio at 60 credits, so ten clips use 600. Kling 4.0 rates are not published.
Veo gives you more seconds for less money here. Kling gives you fewer, shorter clips but far more ways to direct them, and any single shot can run much longer.
Which to pick
- Pick Google Veo if you already pay for Google AI, want free daily credits to test with, and your shots fit in 8 seconds. See the Google Veo review.
- Pick Kling if you need long takes, character references, keyframes or native 4K, and want a tool whose maker is still putting its new models first. See the Kling review.

Strengths and weaknesses
Google Veo
- 50 free Flow credits every day, enough for a couple of Veo 3.1 Fast clips without paying
- Native audio in the same generation, so clips come with sound and speech
- Google AI Plus at $4.99 is one of the cheapest paid ways into a major lab's video model
- Ultra halves the cost of Fast and Lite clips and adds 4K upscaling
- Flow puts Veo, Gemini Omni, Nano Banana and editing tools in one project
- Google publishes the credit cost of each model on its help pages
- Clips are 8 seconds at most per generation; longer scenes need extensions
- Veo 3.1 Quality costs 100 credits a clip, so Pro's 1,000 monthly credits buy only ten
- Monthly and daily credits do not roll over
- The Gemini app now uses Gemini Omni for video, not Veo
- The Gemini API's Veo 3.1 preview models shut down on October 22, 2026; developers must move to Vertex AI or Omni
- Plan pages focus on Gemini Omni, so it is hard to tell what Veo will look like in a year
- Availability and features vary by country, and the plans are for adults only
Kling AI
- Sold direct by Kuaishou, the company that trains the models
- Native 30-second clips on Kling 4.0, longer than most rivals per generation
- Deep control with references, keyframes, Motion Control and multi-shot prompts
- Native audio, including dialogue, in the same generation
- Apps for every major platform, including desktop
- Public API with a per-second price list
- Credits get cheaper per 100 on bigger plans, from $1.33 down to $0.96 at renewal prices
- The plan page does not list how many credits a clip costs, so you only see it in the app
- Headline prices are first-month discounts; renewals cost more
- Free Basic plan has a watermark, no 1080p and no commercial use
- Premier and Ultra+ jump to $135 and $402 for the first month
- API packs start at $700, too much for casual developers
- So many models, modes and tools that newcomers can get lost
